LAS CRUCES – A 47-year-old bicyclist is facing charges after being struck by an SUV on Missouri Avenue on Friday night.
Wearing dark clothing, the male bicyclist was weaving in and out of traffic headed westbound on Missouri Avenue, said Las Cruces Police Department spokesman Dan Trujillo. The bicyclist then pulled in front of a Dodge Durango also headed westbound, and it struck him.
“The bicyclist appeared to be intoxicated,” Trujillo said.
The man at first appeared to be seriously injured. However, he was taken to a local hospital and police later saw him walking around and talking.
The incident was reported shortly after 10 p.m.
The bicyclist is facing several charges.
The crash happened near the intersection of La Fonda Drive and Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces. That’s just west of the intersection with Triviz Drive.
