LAS CRUCES – After a successful debut in 2018, The Borderlands Film Festival has re-branded itself and is continuing as the Borderscene Film Festival. This year’s film fest will take place Sept. 6-9 at the Allen Theaters Cineport 10 and Video 4 and in Las Cruces as well as Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces. This year’s theme is “Overcoming Challenges.”

The mission of the Borderscene Film Festival continues to be the integration of excellence in independent film with resources and connections within the film industry. In 2019, Festival organizers received 450 films from 48 countries and selected the top 15% for viewing.

Starting Wednesday, Sept. 4, some Borderscene Film Festival pass-holders can watch most of the 75-plus films in the lineup from their online streaming devices.

Borderscene Film Festival Online Viewing Only passes are being sold separately from the regular passes, allowing not only disabled or incapacitated movie lovers to take part, but also those who are attending the physical festival and can’t catch every film on their list. Those who purchase the passes will be provided information for a logon and a link to the player. From there, viewers can watch as many of the films as they care to, as many times as they want, during six days of the festival. Online passes may be purchased at www.borderscene.org for $15 plus fees.

To watch Borderscene Film Festival movies in a theater, Sept. 7-9, participants can buy a single movie and/or block pass for $2.50, a single-day movie pass for $7.50 or a three-day movie pass for $15. An All Access VIP $50 pass is good for all movies and parties, including the opening night film on Sept. 6.
