Community Snapshot: Doña Ana County Treasurer Eric L. Rodriguez awarded a new contract for tax bill printing and mailing to New Mexico nonprofit Adelante Development Center. Adelante Development Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides support services for an estimated 65,000 people with mental, physical, and developmental disabilities, as well as seniors and disadvantaged populations, across the state. The nonprofit provides valuable business services in addition to employment for people with disabilities. The contract awarded by the County Treasurer’s Office includes printing an estimated 128,000 tax notices per year by Adelante’s Bulk Printing & Mailing division, which has run a mailing business for more than 30 years.  A majority of the employees have a disability, but still earn a wage averaging more than $11 an hour. To submit an item for community snapshot, email photo and information to news@lcsun-news.com.
